Velino river
The Velino is a tributary of the Nera River and a sub-tributary of the Tiber. It flows 90 km through the province of Rieti and is characterized by a very regular regime. It rises at the foot of Monte Pozzoni, located in the upper province of Rieti, in the municipal territory of Cittareale. The Velino has two main tributaries: the Salto and the Turano, whose respective courses are regulated by the homonymous dams. At the end of the plain of Rieti, near Marmore in the province of Terni, the Velino joins the Nera river, forming the spectacular Marmore waterfalls.
