What to see?
Parishes and churches represent the real attraction of Longone and its hamlets where a strong religious tradition is rooted. The church of SS. Cosma and Damiano, dating back to the 6th-7th century, is located inside the municipal cemetery; it was built on a square plan and is characterized by a hut roof following the Benedictine style and canons. The religious festival held every year on 26/27 September attracts local people and also tourists for the traditional lighting of the bonfires on the eve. On the other hand, the so-called "conventino", built in the mid-1200s by the Franciscan Friars and today dedicated to Sant'Antonio di Padova, is the destination of a solemn procession that takes place every year on the third Sunday of June. In the centre of the village stands the Parish Church "Immaculate Conception", of great importance especially for the local inhabitants who are particularly bound to it. The church has an irregular Latin cross plan and the presbytery characterized by a sober and linear altar is located on a raised floor with three steps, while the transept line separates it from the apse recently frescoed with the Annunciation episode. The main altar is dominated by a canvas depicting the Immaculate Conception crushing the head of the snake, set in a gold-colored walled frame. Another place of worship dear to the local people is the Church of the Madonna dei Cinghiali which is located in the Fassinoro plateau, surrounded by a spectacular natural scenery. The cave dedicated to Santa Lucia can be reached on foot from the Fassinoro cemetery, descending through a wood of holm oaks.
