Collegiove
Collegiove is one of the smallest villages in the province of Rieti. Its name comes from Giove Rotondo, honored in a Roman temple that was built among beech, oak and chestnut forests where golden eagles, wolves and wild cats find refuge.

Where is it?
Collegiove, inhabited by 189 people, is 50 km. away from Rieti within the Cervia and Navegna Mountains Nature Reserve, at an altitude of 1000 m. above sea level. Its natural isolation among the mountains makes it a site particularly appreciated by lovers of stars and astronomical observations who usually gather at ‘Le Rocche’, a valley sheltered from light pollution
What to see?
Collegiove is a starting point for nature excursions, thanks to the network of villages, trails and services coordinated by the Monti Cervia and Navegna Nature Reserve, which extends for about 3,600 hectares between the Salto and Turano rivers includes the municipalities of Ascrea, Castel di Tora, Collalto Sabino, Marcetelli, Nespolo, Paganico Sabino, Rocca Sinibalda and Varco Sabino. The symbol of Collegiove is the church of Santa Maria, characterized by numerous works by local artists, a holy water basin made from a large Roman marble cup found in Colle Santo and two splendid 16th-century bell towers. Also worth visiting is the Museo della Civiltà Contadina (Museum of Rural Civilisation) housed in the former Library adjacent to the Church and commissioned by the Municipality and the Pro-Loco, actively supported by the residents, with the aim of preserving the memory of the rural culture and traditions of the village.
