The silent flight is the master of the blue sky over Rieti, its valley and mountains, that are favoured by special conditions, particularly suitable for gliding and paragliding. The Ciuffelli Airport in Rieti is the starting point for gliders from all over the world who can enjoy breathtaking flights without power. The airport was the site of the World Gliding Championships in 1985 and 2008, attended by hundreds of pilots from all over the globe. Paragliding, whose launch base is Mount Rosato, overlooking the Holy Valley, has also experienced moments of high sporting value, thanks to the World Cup final held in 2019. Flocks of pilots characterized by colourful paragliders populate the sky of the Holy Valley, especially on weekends or during specific events, however the province offers other launch bases to the practitioners of this exciting sport.
